Brake Seals
Cups, lip seals, rings and diaphragms that hold pressure inside brake cylinders, distributor valves and air-brake actuators. The hard part of the duty is sealing at low pressure after the vehicle has stood idle, not sealing at full application. SES holds the range as an authorised JK Fenner distributor, covering types Cup seals, U-cups, O-rings, diaphragms, gaskets; elastomers NBR, HNBR, EPDM, silicone; pressure Air brake system working pressure; temperature Sub-zero ambient to brake-heat soak. Executions include brake cylinder cup seals, distributor valve diaphragms, u-cups and piston seals, o-rings and back-up rings, among others. It is specified most often into brake cylinder piston seals and distributor valve diaphragms. Every part is genuine JK Fenner through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Brake Seals in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means brake cylinder piston seals, distributor valve diaphragms, auxiliary reservoir check valve seals, and equally slack adjuster and rigging seals, parking and hand brake actuators, loco independent brake valve overhaul. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — media: Compressed air with compressor oil carry-over. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the JK Fenner range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Stock stands for days between runs in a cold region — A compound with a low-temperature retraction figure comfortably below the coldest ambient. A seal that takes a compression set overnight will not seal on the first application in the morning. The depot has moved to synthetic compressor oil — Confirm compound compatibility before substituting anything. Nitrile that lives happily on mineral oil can swell and soften on some synthetic bases. Seal runs in a hard-chromed or anodised bore — The matching lip loading for that finish. Too much squeeze on a hard bore raises breakaway force and gives a sticky, delayed brake release. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Order brake seals as a complete overhaul kit for the valve rather than as single items. Fitting one new lip seal alongside three aged O-rings puts the assembly back in the shop inside a cycle. Send the designation off the failed part and we will confirm the JK Fenner equivalent and stock position.
