Industrial Transmission Drives

Enclosed geared units and geared motors that reduce motor speed to machine speed and multiply torque. Configurations run from inline helical units through right-angle bevel and worm units to shaft-mounted reducers. SES holds the range as an authorised JK Fenner distributor, covering gear forms Helical, bevel helical, worm, planetary; arrangement Inline, parallel shaft, right angle, shaft mounted; housings Cast iron and fabricated construction; output shaft Solid keyed or hollow with shrink disc. Executions include inline helical geared units, bevel helical right angle units, worm geared units, shaft mounted reducers, among others. It is specified most often into conveyor and elevator head drives and rotary kiln auxiliary and inching drives. Every part is genuine JK Fenner through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.

You will find Industrial Transmission Drives in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means conveyor and elevator head drives, rotary kiln auxiliary and inching drives, sludge scrapers and clarifier rakes in water treatment, and equally extruders, pug mills and brick machines, cooling tower fan drives, screw conveyors in cement and ash handling. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — function: Speed reduction with torque multiplication. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the JK Fenner range and confirm what is in stock.

Specify it against the duty.

Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Drive runs a few hours a day with heavy shock, such as a crusher feeder — Raise the service factor rather than the motor rating. The gearbox has to survive the shock peaks, and those are unrelated to the average power drawn. Right angle layout with a high reduction in one stage — A worm unit only where duty is intermittent, otherwise bevel helical. Worm gearing loses a substantial share of input power as heat and cooks its own oil on continuous duty. Ambient above normal or the unit is boxed into an unventilated housing — Check thermal rating separately from mechanical rating and add a fan or cooler. Thermal capacity, not gear strength, is what limits most continuously loaded reducers. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.

After a gearbox change, check the oil grade against the mounting position, not just the nameplate. The same unit mounted vertically often needs a different fill quantity, and an unchanged fill leaves the top bearing dry.
