Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Mount is transmitting a specific engine order into the cabin — Change durometer and damping together, not hardness alone. A harder mount cures the movement and hands you a booming resonance somewhere else in the speed range. Part sits where oil or fuel can drip on it — An oil-resistant compound. Natural rubber gives the best damping but swells and goes soft in the presence of hydrocarbons. Bonded metal part shows a line of separation at the rubber-to-metal interface — Replace, do not repair. Once the bond has started to peel, the remaining rubber is carrying load in a way the part was never designed for.
