Wheel Bearing Seals
Contact seals that close the axle box around the wheelset bearing. They hold the grease charge against the roller path and keep track dust, brake dust and washing water outside it. SES holds the range as an authorised JK Fenner distributor, covering type Radial lip seal, single or double lip; elastomer NBR, HNBR or polyacrylate by temperature; spring Garter spring, stainless where washing is routine; case Metal cased or rubber-covered outside diameter. Executions include single-lip wheel bearing seals, double-lip with dust lip, rubber-covered OD execution, metal-cased execution, among others. It is specified most often into coach and wagon axle box cartridge bearings and locomotive wheelset journal housings. Every part is genuine JK Fenner through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Wheel Bearing Seals in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means coach and wagon axle box cartridge bearings, locomotive wheelset journal housings, EMU trailer axles on suburban stock, and equally bogie journal and end-cap assemblies, wheel lathe and workshop wheelset rebuilds, brake-dust-heavy metro and suburban fleets. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — duty: Grease retention plus dust and water exclusion. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the JK Fenner range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Axle box runs hot from adjacent brake discs — A compound that keeps lip elasticity after repeated heat soak. Standard nitrile hardens at the lip, cracks, and then leaks continuously rather than intermittently. Wheelset has measurable axial float — A lip profile that follows the float without unseating. A stiff lip skips across the journal and cuts a groove into the counterface within a few thousand kilometres. Stock is washed down with high-pressure jets — A double-lip execution with a dedicated dust lip. Without it, wash water gets behind the primary lip and contaminates the grease from the outside in. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Inspect the journal or wear sleeve before fitting. A polished groove under the old lip will make the new seal leak within weeks, and a shallow groove is a reason to fit a wear sleeve rather than to search for an oversize seal.
