The fan is belt driven and the bearing takes a strong side pull — Check the radial load from belt tension including the start-up peak. Fan bearings are usually chosen on speed alone, and it is belt overtension that flattens them. The fan handles hot air and the shaft conducts heat back to the bearing — Take the greater internal clearance and consider a cooling disc on the shaft. A standard clearance unit at the hot end of a dryer fan preloads itself and runs progressively noisier until it seizes. The rotor is out of balance and the vibration cannot be cured quickly — Fit the unit with a rubber seating ring so the housing takes less of the alternating load. Understand that this treats the symptom, and an unbalanced rotor will still crack a fan shaft eventually.
