Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Shaft turns in one direction only and the duty is steady — The eccentric locking collar is quick and holds well. Under reversing load the collar backs off, so grubscrew or adapter locking is the safer choice there. Machine is not accessible for regreasing after installation — Take the sealed-for-life insert without a grease nipple. Fitting a relubricatable unit that never gets greased is worse than a sealed one, because the small grease charge is sized on the assumption it will be topped up. The unit must carry a genuine misalignment that changes as the machine runs — These units self-align once, on assembly, and then the spherical seat is effectively fixed. A shaft that deflects continuously needs a spherical roller bearing unit instead. Nip the two grubscrews down alternately, not one after the other. Tightening one fully first cocks the inner ring on the shaft and the unit runs with a wobble that gets blamed on the pulley every time.
