BB Series Metric Thin Section Ball Bearings
Metric-dimensioned thin section ball bearings covering the same three contact geometries as the inch family. On a new design drawn in millimetres they remove the conversion step, and shaft and housing dimensions come out as round numbers. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering dimensions Metric bore, outside diameter and section; types Radial contact, angular contact, four-point contact; bore span Small instrument sizes up to large diameters; closures Open, shielded and sealed. Executions include radial contact metric executions, angular contact metric executions, four-point contact metric executions, sealed and shielded executions, among others. It is specified most often into metric robot joint housings and rotary axes on european-built machinery. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find BB Series Metric Thin Section Ball Bearings in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means metric robot joint housings, rotary axes on european-built machinery, scanner and gantry rotation stages, and equally light turntables in packaging equipment, encoder and instrument spindles, compact swivel joints on handling equipment. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — dimensions: Metric bores and sections. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. The drawing is metric and tolerances are already in millimetres — The metric series, so shaft and housing dimensions and fits come straight off the table without conversion rounding. An imperial bearing is being replaced in an existing machine — Stay with the inch series. Metric sections are close to inch sections but not the same, and close is exactly what gets a ring pressed into a bore that does not suit it. Speed is higher than normal positioning duty — The radial contact type with a light grease fill, and check the limiting speed. Thin section bearings hold very little grease and the heat has nowhere to go. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Quote the full designation including the section and type letters when you order. Bore alone does not identify a thin section bearing — the same bore exists in several sections and in all three contact types.
