Bearings with Solid Oil
The free space inside the bearing is filled with a polymer matrix saturated with lubricating oil. The matrix holds the oil against the rolling elements and releases it slowly, so the bearing carries several times the oil of a grease pack and cannot be flushed out by water. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering matrix Oil-saturated polymer, cured in place; temperature range Typically -20 to +85 °C, execution dependent; speed Reduced limit compared with the grease-lubricated bearing; water resistance Resists washout, including under direct spray. Executions include deep groove ball bearings with solid oil, y-bearings and y-bearing units with solid oil, spherical roller bearings with solid oil, cylindrical roller bearings with solid oil, among others. It is specified most often into bottle and can conveyors in beverage plant washdown areas and rice and flour mill elevator and screw conveyor shafts. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Bearings with Solid Oil in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means bottle and can conveyors in beverage plant washdown areas, rice and flour mill elevator and screw conveyor shafts, tea withering trough and roller shafts, and equally filter and thickener drives in effluent treatment, wet-end rolls in paper and board machines, overhead conveyor trolleys where a grease gun cannot reach. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — lubricant: Oil held in a porous polymer matrix. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Bearing sits under regular hose or steam washdown — Solid Oil resists washout in a way grease does not. It is still not a substitute for a seal, so keep the flinger and the labyrinth in place. Position is buried in the machine and gets missed on the greasing round — A filled bearing removes the greasing point altogether. Take the nipple and the line off the drawing too, or someone will pump grease against a solid matrix and blow the seal out. Duty is high speed or heavily loaded — Check the speed and load limits before ordering, as the matrix restricts both. The natural fit is slow to medium speed under moderate load, not a mill main shaft. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Never mount these with an open flame or an uncontrolled hot plate. The matrix will not take the heat a steel ring takes, and an overheated bearing arrives on site looking normal with the oil already cooked out of the polymer.
