Cassette Seals
A pre-assembled unit containing the sealing lips and their own counterface, held together as one part. Nothing has to be machined on the shaft, and the sealing interface is set at the factory rather than on the bench. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering construction Inner and outer case with lips running on the integral surface; materials Steel cases with NBR or HNBR sealing elements; temperature Roughly -40 °C to +150 °C depending on compound; pressure Effectively unpressurised. Executions include standard cassette, heavy-contamination execution with extra exclusion lip, low-friction execution, flanged cassette for bolted covers. It is specified most often into wheel hubs and axles on loaders, dumpers and tippers and agricultural tractor and harvester axle ends. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Cassette Seals in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means wheel hubs and axles on loaders, dumpers and tippers, agricultural tractor and harvester axle ends, off-highway final drives and planetary hubs, and equally yard equipment operating in wet stockyards, mixer and drum drives in concrete plant, track-mounted drill and crusher travel drives. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — build: Unitised — seal plus integral counterface ring. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Shaft is soft, worn or cannot be reground — The cassette design, since it brings its own hardened counterface. Grinding a hub shaft in position is rarely practical and never repeatable. The machine works in mud, slurry or a wet stockyard — A multi-lip cassette with an outward-facing exclusion lip. Contamination that gets between lip and shaft on a conventional seal ends up as a cut track. Axial float in the hub is significant — A cassette rated for that float, because the two halves move relative to each other by design. A conventional seal loses lip position as the hub walks. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Push a cassette in by its outer case only. Pressing on both halves at once loads the internal lips against their counterface and can shear the light interference that holds the inner ring on the shaft.
