Pulley is lagged and will be re-lagged during its life — A housing that opens without disturbing the locking element, so a re-lagging job does not force a bearing change alongside it. Grease purge is fed from an automatic lubricator — Feed rate against the seal cavity volume, and vent the old grease. Over-purging a taconite seal blows the outer lip out of its groove. Structure is exposed to monsoon rain and standing water — Drain provision at the lowest point of the housing, and covers that shed water away from the split line. Grease the taconite seal cavity separately from the bearing and put it on the lubrication schedule in those words. Crews that purge only the bearing nipple leave the labyrinth dry, and a dry taconite seal is a dust funnel with extra machining.
