Crane Lubrication
Lubrication for crane structures where the points are spread along a moving bridge and sit well out of reach: wheel bearings, travel and hoist gearboxes, rope drums, sheaves and slew rings. The system exists because nobody is going to climb to those points every week. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering system type Progressive, usually with pump on the bridge; points served Commonly 20 to 60 per crane; lubricants EP greases, open gear compounds, rope dressings; lines Steel and heat-rated flexible hose. Executions include bridge-mounted progressive systems, wheel flange lubrication units, wire rope lubricators, open gear spray systems, among others. It is specified most often into ladle and charging cranes in steel melt shops and EOT cranes in fabrication and machine shops. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Crane Lubrication in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means ladle and charging cranes in steel melt shops, EOT cranes in fabrication and machine shops, goliath and gantry cranes in stockyards, and equally port and container handling cranes, grab cranes on coal and ore handling, powerhouse and workshop maintenance cranes. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — points: Wheels, sheaves, drums, slew rings, gears. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Crane works over a hot metal aisle — Heat-rated hose, steel lines and a grease that holds its structure near the bay temperature; standard tubing sags and the grease bleeds out in the reservoir. Wire rope is showing red dust at the sheaves — A rope lubricator applying a penetrating dressing, because grease brushed on the outside never reaches the core where the fretting is happening. Long travel wheels wear their flanges unevenly — Flange lubrication with a dry-film or adhesive lubricant, and correct the crane skew as well. Lubrication reduces the wear rate; it does not cure the alignment. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Take the fault signal into the crane cab, not just to a panel on the bridge. A lubrication alarm that only a maintenance fitter at height can see gets acknowledged once and then ignored for a year. Send the designation off the failed part and we will confirm the SKF equivalent and stock position.
