In practice that means electric motor drive and non-drive ends, centrifugal pump bearing housings, fan and blower shafts in ID/FD sets, and equally gearbox input shafts and idler positions, conveyor pulleys running light radial duty, machine tool auxiliary spindles. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — load: Radial + moderate axial, both directions. Motor runs off a variable frequency drive — INSOCOAT coated outer ring or a hybrid ceramic ball bearing to break the shaft current path and stop electrical fluting. Washdown, dust or fibre ingress at the housing — Contact-sealed 2RS1 rather than shielded 2Z. Shields exclude solids only; they will not hold back water. Housing and shaft heat up unevenly in service — C3 internal clearance so the bearing still has running clearance once the inner ring has grown.
