In practice that means rear axle and differential housings on tippers, transfer cases on all-wheel-drive plant vehicles, automatic and manual transmissions in fleet workshops, and equally final drive units on loaders and dozers, tractor rear axle and PTO housings, trailer bogie drive units. Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. The leak is at the propshaft flange on the axle nose — A pinion seal, and check the pinion nut torque and flange runout at the same time. A loose flange destroys any seal you fit. The housing breather is blocked with mud — Clear or relocate the breather before changing the seal. Case pressure will push oil past a brand new lip on the first hot cycle. The failure is inside an automatic gearbox clutch pack — A bonded piston rather than a lip seal. Those pistons seal a hydraulically applied clutch, not a rotating shaft. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.
