Engine Seals

Engine sealing covers the crankshaft and camshaft exits and the trigger wheels that give the ECU its timing reference. Everything here works in hot oil, blow-by gases and crankcase pressure. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering sub-types Engine shaft seals, magnetic trigger wheels; materials PTFE, FKM, ACM, silicone; temperature Sustained hot oil with heat soak after shutdown; speed Full engine speed. Executions include engine shaft seals, magnetic trigger wheels. It is specified most often into diesel engine crankshaft front and rear seals and camshaft and timing cover sealing. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.

You will find Engine Seals in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means diesel engine crankshaft front and rear seals, camshaft and timing cover sealing, generator set engine overhauls, and equally off-highway engines in loaders and haulers, tractor and pump-set engine rebuilds, marine and stationary auxiliary engines. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — covers: Engine shaft seals and magnetic trigger wheels. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.

Specify it against the duty.

Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. The engine is a modern high-output diesel — A PTFE lip seal. Elastomer lips cannot hold the combination of speed, temperature and long oil drain intervals that these engines run. A rear main seal has failed early after a rebuild — Test the crankcase ventilation before fitting another. Blow-by pressure pushes oil past any rear main seal on the market. The engine has variable valve timing or cylinder deactivation — Check whether a trigger wheel is part of the assembly. Timing reference and sealing are combined in some designs. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.

PTFE crankshaft seals ship with a plastic installation sleeve for a reason. Remove it early or run the engine before the lip has taken its set, and you have bought a leak. Send the designation off the failed part and we will confirm the SKF equivalent and stock position.
