You will find Filling Units in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means refilling barrel-fed grease systems on mobile bulk plant, topping up conveyor lubrication reservoirs in the field, filling gearbox and hydraulic tanks in a workshop, and equally charging grease into crane and stacker onboard tanks, filling circulating oil reservoirs from sealed drums. Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. More than one grease type in use across the plant — A dedicated coupler and hose per product, physically keyed or colour coded. Lithium and polyurea greases mixed in a reservoir soften to a soup that will not pump and cannot be flushed out easily. New oil delivered in drums stored outdoors — Filtration on the fill line, not just on the system. New oil is routinely dirtier than the target cleanliness code, and drum breathing adds water on top of that. Filling a pressurised or sealed reservoir — A fill coupling with a check valve and a vent path on the reservoir. Filling against a closed vent either stalls the pump or lifts the reservoir seal.
