Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. No flat pedestal is available and the frame is vertical plate — A flanged housing rather than a bracket-mounted plummer block. Cantilevered brackets flex, and that flex reaches the bearing as misalignment. Bearing must be located axially by the housing — The execution with a machined shoulder or locating ring in the bore. A plain-bore flange gives no axial reference at all. Plate face is unmachined — A spot-faced or machined pad at the flange. Bolting a flange down over mill scale and weld spatter guarantees a bore out of square with the shaft.
