You will find FNL Series in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means feeder and doser drives in cement plant, small conveyor drive ends on machine frames, fan and blower supports through partition plates, and equally packing and bagging machinery shafting, paper converting and rewinder shafts, tea rolling and sorting machine drives. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — flange: Round (A) or square (B), bolted. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Speed is moderate, load is light, but alignment is poor — A self-aligning ball bearing in the FNL rather than a deep groove type. The flange cannot be shimmed square once the plate is drilled. Same shaft is carried by an FNL at one end and a plummer block at the other — Which end locates. Make the FNL the free end if the plate can move relative to the pedestal. Housing sits in a food or feed handling area — Sealing that can be cleaned from outside, and a grease suited to incidental contact. A labyrinth packed with product residue becomes a contamination point.
