Gauges
Measuring gauges used while a spindle bearing set is built up, to check ring widths and spacer lengths before anything is pressed on. In a spacer-set spindle, preload is decided at this bench and nowhere else. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering principle Comparative measurement against setting masters; resolution Down to one micron on the finer instruments; measured features Ring width, total set width, spacer length; reference Ground setting masters supplied with the gauge. Executions include ring width gauges for single bearings, total-width gauges for matched sets, spacer length gauges, setting masters and reference rings. It is specified most often into machine tool spindle rebuild shops and grinding wheel spindle set assembly. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Gauges in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means machine tool spindle rebuild shops, grinding wheel spindle set assembly, spacer grinding for angular contact bearing stacks, and equally incoming inspection of matched bearing sets, high-speed motor spindle overhaul, roll grinder and boring mill spindle refurbishment. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — purpose: Verify ring width and spacer length. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Spacers are ground in-house to set preload — A gauge supplied with its own setting master, so spacer and bearing rings are both measured against one reference. Bearings come in as a supplied matched set — Gauging for incoming verification only. Regrinding anything in a matched set destroys the total width the maker already ground in. The workshop is not temperature controlled — Let parts and gauge stand together before reading. Steel moves visibly with a couple of degrees, and spindle spacers are judged in single microns. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Record every reading against the spindle serial number. When that spindle comes back in two years, the build sheet is the only way to tell whether the preload was ever right or the machine has simply been thrashed.
