Heavy-duty Barrel Pumps
Air-operated reciprocating pumps that sit on a grease drum and feed a centralised system directly from it. The pressure ratio between the air motor and the grease piston is what pushes NLGI 2 grease down a long, cold line. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering container fit Common pail and drum sizes up to 180 kg; air supply Filtered, regulated shop air with a lubricator or dryer as needed; pressure ratio High-ratio variants for long lines and stiff grease; inlet Suction tube with priming aid and follower plate option. Executions include pail-mounted pneumatic pumps, drum-mounted high-ratio pumps, pumps with drum cover and follower plate, pumps with integral air filter regulator lubricator, among others. It is specified most often into central grease stations for crushers and screens and drum-fed systems on draglines, shovels and mobile plant. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Heavy-duty Barrel Pumps in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means central grease stations for crushers and screens, drum-fed systems on draglines, shovels and mobile plant, conveyor lubrication rooms on long overland routes, and equally girth gear spray systems on kilns and mills, press shop and forging line grease supply. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — drive: Compressed air motor, no electrics at the drum. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Long feed line with many points and a stiff grease — A higher pressure ratio pump rather than more air pressure at a low ratio. Air motors run out of stall force before the line pressure is reached, and the system times out on the pressure switch. Drum emptied unevenly with grease left around the walls — A follower plate matched to the drum diameter. Without it the suction tube bores a clean hole through the middle and the pump takes air for the last quarter of the drum. Grease pumped in an area that drops near freezing overnight — A softer NLGI grade and a low-temperature pump package. Grease selection here is a pumpability decision first and a bearing decision second. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Fit a water trap and drain it on every shift. An air motor cycling continuously on wet air ices at the exhaust, the stroke slows, and the system reports a low-pressure fault that no amount of work on the grease side will clear.
