Hub bearing unit seals for light and heavy duty vehicles
Integrated sealing built into hub bearing units, holding the grease charge for the life of the unit and keeping out road salt, slurry and wash water. On many units the seal also carries the encoder ring the ABS sensor reads. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering unit types Generation 1, 2 and 3 hub bearing units; seal design Cassette with flinger and multiple lips; encoder Multipole magnetic ring on ABS executions; grease Factory charged, lithium complex type. Executions include light vehicle hub unit seals, heavy truck hub unit seals, cassette seals with magnetic encoder, executions with outboard flinger, among others. It is specified most often into car and light commercial vehicle front and rear hubs and van and pickup fleets running plant deliveries. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Hub bearing unit seals for light and heavy duty vehicles in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means car and light commercial vehicle front and rear hubs, van and pickup fleets running plant deliveries, truck and trailer hub units on long haul work, and equally bus front hubs on stop-start city duty, wheel end conversions to compact taper units, workshops handling ABS-equipped hub replacement. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — type: Cassette or integrated lip seal. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Hub carries an ABS sensor at the seal face — The unit with the correct magnetic encoder pole count and orientation. Fit it the wrong way round and the ABS light comes on with no fault in the wiring. Vehicle runs on salted or heavily dust-laden roads — A cassette seal with an outboard flinger. A single lip seal wears a witness mark and then draws slurry in at every cool-down. Old unit ran hot and the grease has darkened or gone dry — A complete new unit, not a re-greased one. Once the grease has oxidised, the base oil has already gone and the raceways have started to spall. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Never let the magnetic encoder face touch a steel bench or a magnetic tray on the way to the vehicle. It picks up swarf that no amount of wiping removes, and the sensor reads the swarf, not the poles.
