Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Long lines, cold ambient and a lot of pressure loss to overcome — A pump rated on maximum working pressure at the far end, with a safety margin above the calculated loss. A pump chosen on displacement alone will move plenty of grease and still never reach the last block. Mobile machine with hydraulics already available — A hydraulically driven pump taken off an existing service circuit. It removes the electrical installation from a machine that flexes and vibrates, where cable failures dominate the fault log. Very small installation with only a few points — A manual or lever-operated pump with a clear cycle indicator. Automating four points adds a controller, a sensor and a fault path where a disciplined weekly stroke would do.
