Without a number on the gun, every greasing round is guesswork and over-greasing is the usual result. Grease is drawn from open kegs on the shop floor — A filler pump and closed transfer. Grease scooped by hand carries in more dirt than the bearing seals will ever exclude. Sealed bearing being greased through a blocked passage — A pressure-limited coupler. A hand gun can generate enough pressure to blow the bearing seal lip clean out of its groove.
