Mounted Bearings and Housings
Bearings supplied already assembled into a housing, or housings supplied to take a bearing you specify separately. The point of the family is that the bearing seat is made and sealed at the factory, so the machine builder only has to provide a flat mounting face. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering housing materials Cast iron, cast steel, pressed steel, composite, stainless; shaft sizes From around 12 mm up to well beyond 500 mm; bearing types Insert ball, spherical roller, CARB, tapered roller; housing forms Pillow block, flange, take-up, tension and split types. Executions include ball bearing units, roller bearing units, plummer block housings, flanged housings, among others. It is specified most often into conveyor head, tail, snub and bend pulley positions and fan and blower shafts in boiler and dryer houses. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Mounted Bearings and Housings in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means conveyor head, tail, snub and bend pulley positions, fan and blower shafts in boiler and dryer houses, bucket elevator head and boot shafts, and equally screw conveyor and mixer drive ends, agitator and thickener rake shafts in effluent plant, line shafts and countershafts in older mill buildings. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — covers: Ball bearing units, roller bearing units, housings. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Shaft is commercially drawn bar rather than machined to bearing tolerance — Go to a ball bearing unit with an insert bearing and a wide inner ring. Fitting a plummer block with a plain bore bearing on drawn bar leaves the inner ring loose and it spins on the shaft. Load is heavy, shocky or the shaft deflects, as on a long conveyor pulley — Step up to a roller bearing unit or a plummer block with a spherical roller bearing. A ball bearing unit in that duty fails at the insert grubscrews long before the raceway is worn. The environment is abrasive, wet or both — Select on the sealing arrangement first and the bearing second. Nearly every early failure in mounted units traces back to seal choice, not to bearing rating. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

When changing a housing brand or series, check the base-to-centre height and the bolt hole slot pattern against the old one before the shutdown. A base height difference of a few millimetres means the drive has to be realigned, and that turns a two-hour job into a two-shift one.
