Radial space is critically short but the load is high — A needle roller execution sized on the available section rather than on the bore alone. The shaft can be hardened and ground to raceway quality — A cage assembly or a bearing without an inner ring, giving the smallest possible section height. The shaft is soft, plated or cannot be reground — An execution with an inner ring, and size the shaft to the inner ring bore instead of to the needle diameter.
