Needle Roller Bearings with Machined Rings
Turned and ground rings replace the drawn cup, giving a rigid, accurately toleranced bearing that does not depend on the housing bore for its shape. Supplied with or without an inner ring, it suits heavy and shock-loaded needle applications. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering bore range About 10 mm to 300 mm; designation families NA48, NA49, NKI, RNA and related series; inner ring IR series inner rings, supplied separately or as a set; sealing Open and both-side sealed executions. Executions include with inner ring, open, with inner ring, sealed, without inner ring, open, without inner ring, sealed, among others. It is specified most often into heavy gearbox idler and planetary gear supports and rolling mill guide rollers and side guards. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Needle Roller Bearings with Machined Rings in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means heavy gearbox idler and planetary gear supports, rolling mill guide rollers and side guards, press and forging machine linkages, and equally track rollers and cam follower assemblies, crane and hoist sheave supports, machine tool feed and index mechanisms. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — rings: Machined, dimensionally stable. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. The load includes shock or reversing impact — The machined ring type over a drawn cup, as the heavier section resists the local deformation that shock puts into a thin cup. The shaft is soft, ground undersize or already worn — The version with an inner ring, sizing the shaft seat to the inner ring bore. Cheaper than rehardening and regrinding a large shaft. The bearing sits in a dusty mill environment — The sealed execution with integral lip seals, and confirm the seal lip clears the shaft shoulder before assembly. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
If the shaft cannot be hardened, order the version with an inner ring and size the seat to the inner ring bore. Adding an inner ring later usually fails because the housing no longer suits the increased section height.
