Roller Bearing Units
Housed units built around spherical roller, CARB or tapered roller bearings rather than insert ball bearings. They step in when the load, the shock or the shaft deflection is beyond what a ball bearing unit can survive. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering shaft sizes Roughly 20 mm to over 500 mm; bearing types Spherical roller, CARB toroidal, tapered roller; housing types Split plummer block, flanged, take-up, ConCentra; materials Cast iron, cast steel, ductile iron. Executions include SKF ConCentra roller bearing units, spherical roller bearing units, flanged roller bearing units, take-up roller bearing units, among others. It is specified most often into long conveyor pulley shafts in mineral and coal handling and bucket elevator head shafts in cement and grain plant. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Roller Bearing Units in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means long conveyor pulley shafts in mineral and coal handling, bucket elevator head shafts in cement and grain plant, crusher, screen and feeder drive shafts, and equally kiln feed and hot conveyor shafts, fan shafts on large ID and FD sets, mill and pump line shafts under heavy belt pull. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — bearings used: Spherical roller, CARB, tapered roller. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. The shaft deflects under load through every revolution — Use a spherical roller bearing unit that keeps aligning as it runs. An insert ball unit aligns once on mounting and then fights the deflection until the raceway spalls. The shaft is long and grows axially, and both ends carry heavy load — Put a CARB bearing at the floating position and a spherical roller at the located end. Two located spherical roller units on a hot conveyor shaft push against each other and both run hot. Installation time is short and the shaft is drawn bar — Consider the ConCentra style units that clamp on the shaft without an adapter sleeve. Adapter mounting is fine but needs clearance measurement, and rushed drive-up is the most common cause of an early failure. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Fit the grease relief plug on the bottom of the housing and take it out at every regrease. Housings that are pumped full with no relief build pressure behind the seal, and the grease that then packs the labyrinth traps the very dust the seal was fitted to keep out.
