Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Calculated load sits close to the SAF limit — A step up to SDAF rather than a bigger bearing inside a SAF. At that point the limit is the housing section and the cap bolts, not the bearing. Block is large and mounted high on a structure — A housing with cast lifting eyes or tapped lifting holes, and plan the rigging before the shutdown. Improvised slings around a cap have dropped housings. Duty is continuous with limited access for greasing — Larger grease reservoirs or an automatic lubricator feed, with the seal chosen so purged grease has somewhere to go. Torque the cap bolts diagonally and in stages. Pulling one side fully down first nips the bearing outer ring at the split line, and you read it later as a bright band across the outside diameter when the bearing comes out.
