SKF Cooper Split Roller Bearings
Every component — inner ring, outer ring, cage and housing — is split on a diameter and bolted around the shaft. That makes it possible to change a bearing in the middle of a shaft without pulling couplings, gearboxes or fans off the ends. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering bore range About 30 mm to over 1000 mm across the range; split Rings, cages and housings split on the diameter; housing styles Pillow block, flanged, cartridge and hanger; shaft fit Clamped to a plain shaft, no interference required. Executions include SKF cooper split spherical roller bearings, SKF cooper split cylindrical roller bearings, SKF cooper split tapered roller bearings. It is specified most often into intermediate pillow blocks on long overland conveyors and kiln and dryer drive shafts trapped between drive and support. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find SKF Cooper Split Roller Bearings in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means intermediate pillow blocks on long overland conveyors, kiln and dryer drive shafts trapped between drive and support, ID and FD fan shafts inside ducting, and equally marine and jetty conveyor drives with restricted access, mixer, screw conveyor and paddle shafts in agro plant, digester and pulper drives in paper mills. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — construction: Fully split rings, cage and housing. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. The shaft deflects, or the two supports cannot be aligned to each other — The split spherical version, which aligns inside the bearing. A split cylindrical bearing in a misaligned pair edge-loads the rollers and skims one raceway shoulder flat. The shaft must be free to grow axially through the bearing — A split cylindrical bearing in the non-locating position. Locking both ends of a hot shaft drives the growth into the bearings and one will run away thermally. The position carries combined radial and axial load and needs stiffness — The split tapered version. Trying to hold that thrust on a floating cylindrical bearing lets the shaft hunt and the seals will be the first thing to wear. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Line up the joint marks on the inner ring, cage and outer ring, and tighten the housing bolts evenly in stages with a torque wrench. Pulling one side down first closes the joint out of round, and the bearing will then run with a hard spot you can feel by hand.
