SKF Cooper Split Spherical Roller Bearings
A split-to-the-shaft bearing with two rows of barrel rollers on a sphered outer raceway. It accepts heavy radial load and takes up shaft deflection and pedestal misalignment inside the bearing itself. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering bore range About 50 mm to over 1000 mm; rows Two rows of barrel rollers; cage Split machined cage held by the clamping rings; housings Split pillow block, flanged and cartridge. Executions include locating (fixed) executions, non-locating (expansion) executions, pillow block housed assemblies, flanged housed assemblies, among others. It is specified most often into head and tail pulleys on coal and ore conveyors and bucket elevator boot shafts below floor level. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find SKF Cooper Split Spherical Roller Bearings in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means head and tail pulleys on coal and ore conveyors, bucket elevator boot shafts below floor level, rotary dryer and cooler drive shafts, and equally screw conveyor intermediate hangers in cement plant, fan shafts inside insulated duct runs, chain and drag conveyor drives in ash handling. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — load: Heavy radial, axial both directions. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Long conveyor shafts that sag visibly under belt tension — This bearing at both supports, so the deflection is absorbed by the sphered raceway rather than by the pedestals. Rigid bearings on a sagging shaft will run one row only. Steel structure that moves under thermal or wind load — One locating and one non-locating split housing arrangement. Two locating housings on a moving structure push the frame load straight into the rollers. The position sits in fine airborne dust with no wash-down facility — Triple labyrinth split seals plus a purge grease fitting. A single lip seal packs with dust, hardens, and then acts as a grinding ring on the shaft. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Check the shaft seating with a micrometer at three points before the bearing goes on. A worn or belled shaft under a split inner ring will not clamp evenly, and the ring joint will open under load and hammer the cage.
