In practice that means conveyor drive and bend pulleys in cement and steel plants, centrifugal fan and blower shafts, tea factory drier and fan shafts, and equally rice mill and flour mill line shafting, pump and small agitator shaft supports, cooling tower fan drive shafts. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — shaft sizes: Roughly 20 mm to 160 mm. Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Bearing sits on a machined seat with a shoulder — A cylindrical bore bearing and the SNL sized to it directly. Adding an adapter sleeve to a shouldered shaft only raises the seat diameter and forces a bigger housing. Shaft is plain drawn stock with no machined seat — An adapter-sleeve mounted bearing, and the SNL size that matches the sleeve rather than the shaft. Ordering by shaft diameter alone gets you a housing one size small. This housing carries the locating position — Locating rings on both sides of the outer ring. Without them the SNL becomes a floating position and the shaft walks under belt pull. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Cap and base are machined as a pair and stamped with a matching number. Never swap caps between two housings on the same machine — the bore goes oval and the bearing outer ring picks up a wear band across the split line.
