Steel balls at those speeds grow enough to raise preload, and the spindle then seizes at temperature. Both stiffness and speed are demanded of the same spindle — The set arrangement first — back-to-back for stiffness, tandem for load capacity in one direction — and choose the individual bearing after that. Ball screw end support with axial load in both directions — A double direction angular contact thrust bearing rather than a pair of standard angular contact bearings. The thrust type is dimensioned for the screw mounting. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later.
