In practice that means rolling mill circulating oil rooms, paper machine dry end bearing lubrication, machine tool spindle and slideway lubrication, and equally furnace and kiln support roller circuits, press and stamping line minimal quantity systems. Continuous process where a lubrication stop means a production stop — A duplex arrangement with standby pump and changeover filtration. Single-pump units are cheaper until the first bearing wipes during a filter change. Cold start in an unheated shed in the winter months — A reservoir heater with a start interlock on oil temperature. Pumping a cold, thick charge collapses suction and the pump cavitates before the bearings see anything. Bearings with a demanding cleanliness requirement — Offline or kidney-loop filtration in addition to the main filter, and specify the target cleanliness code. Full-flow filtration alone rarely holds a fine code on a system that breathes dirty air. Give the unit a return line that is larger than the supply, sloped continuously and vented. Return lines sized like feed lines back up into the housings and the reservoir level looks low while oil sits in the pipework.
