Wheel End Seals
Everything that keeps lubricant in and water out at the hub. This group covers axle seals, hub bearing unit seals, unitised truck seals and the hub caps that close the outboard side, so pick by hub design rather than by vehicle make. SES holds the range as an authorised SKF distributor, covering spindle sizes Light vehicle through to heavy truck axles; lubricants Hub oil and NLGI 1 to 2 greases; designs Lip, unitised, cassette, integrated hub unit; materials NBR, HNBR, FKM with steel cases. Executions include axle seals, hub bearing unit seals for light and heavy duty vehicles, scotseals for truck wheel ends, hub caps, among others. It is specified most often into tipper and trailer wheel ends on haul roads and bulk cement and tanker trailer axles. Every part is genuine SKF through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Wheel End Seals in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means tipper and trailer wheel ends on haul roads, bulk cement and tanker trailer axles, bus and staff coach hubs in city duty, and equally loader and dozer final drive wheel ends, agricultural trailer and tractor axles, fleet workshops doing scheduled hub overhauls. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — job: Retain hub oil or grease, exclude water. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the SKF range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Hub is oil lubricated with a sight glass cap — An axle seal rated for oil, plus a fresh cap gasket. An oil hub with a grease-rated seal weeps down the brake drum and you will be replacing linings, not just seals. Spindle already carries a wear groove from the old seal — A unitised seal that brings its own counterface, or a wear sleeve. Fitting a fresh lip into an old groove reproduces the leak within weeks. Vehicle wades or is jet-washed at the wheel arch — A design with an outboard exclusion lip and a slinger. A single inboard lip cannot hold out water arriving under pressure. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Record the hub temperature on the first run after a wheel end job and compare it with the other side. A seal fitted proud or cocked shows up as ten to fifteen degrees of extra hub temperature long before it shows up as a leak.
