Core Drilling
Diamond core bits and the machines they run in, for making clean round openings through concrete, masonry and tile. Selection turns on two questions: whether the hole can be cooled with water, and whether the bit will meet reinforcement on the way through. SES holds the range as an authorised Tyrolit distributor, covering diameters 5 mm to 500 mm and above on rigs; working lengths Commonly 150 mm to 450 mm, extendable; threads 1-1/4 inch UNC and R 1/2 inch gas; segment height Typically 7 mm to 10 mm when new. Executions include dry core bits, wet drill bits, tile drilling, extension rods and centring aids. It is specified most often into cable and conduit penetrations through RCC slabs in plant expansions and anchor holes for pump and compressor foundations. Every part is genuine Tyrolit through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Core Drilling in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means cable and conduit penetrations through RCC slabs in plant expansions, anchor holes for pump and compressor foundations, duct openings in brick and block partition walls, and equally sample cores taken from foundations before a load increase, pipe penetrations through tiled floors in process areas, drainage openings cut in precast elements at site. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — hole sizes: 5 mm to over 500 mm. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the Tyrolit range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Water cannot be used because of live switchgear or a finished floor below — A dry bit with laser-welded segments, run with dust extraction. Sintered wet segments tolerate dry running only briefly before the brazed joint softens and segments come off. The slab is heavily reinforced — A bit with a segment specification for rebar, and a rig that can hold constant feed. Hand-held drilling into bar stalls the bit and rounds the segments over. Hole diameter is above about 150 mm — A rig-mounted machine with matching motor power. A hand-held drill in a large diameter cannot maintain the surface pressure needed, so the bit polishes instead of cutting. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Record segment height when a bit is issued and again when it comes back. Crews will keep running a bit down to the steel barrel, and a barrel that has rubbed concrete is scrap even if fresh segments are fitted to it.
