Cup Brushes
Brushes with the fill arranged in a cup so the working surface is the flat annular face. That face reaches into corners and fillets and sits flat against plate, which a wheel brush cannot do. SES holds the range as an authorised Tyrolit distributor, covering diameters Commonly 65 mm to 150 mm; threads M14 x 2 and other standard machine threads; fill Carbon steel, stainless steel, brass, abrasive nylon; constructions Crimped, knotted, bevel, encapsulated. Executions include crimped wire cup brushes, knotted wire cup brushes, bevel cup brushes, stainless steel cup brushes, among others. It is specified most often into cleaning fillet welds on structural steelwork and preparing plate faces before metallising or painting. Every part is genuine Tyrolit through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Cup Brushes in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means cleaning fillet welds on structural steelwork, preparing plate faces before metallising or painting, removing coatings from ship hull and deck plating, and equally cleaning inside corners of fabricated tanks and hoppers, descaling flanges and machined faces during shutdown, stripping loose rust from beams and columns. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — working face: Flat annular face. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the Tyrolit range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. A whole plate face to be brought to bright metal — A large-diameter knotted cup brush on a suitably powered grinder. A small brush on that job takes several times as long and cooks the machine. Fillet weld toes and tight internal angles — A bevel cup brush, which sets the fill at an angle so it reaches the toe without the brush body fouling the web. Aluminium and other soft metals — Stainless or brass fill at light pressure. Carbon steel wire embeds in aluminium and starts galvanic corrosion under the coating. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Fit the support ring when the brush is supplied with one. It stops the knots splaying outward at speed, which both keeps the brush cutting on its face and stops the fill breaking off at the crimp. Send the designation off the failed part and we will confirm the Tyrolit equivalent and stock position.
