Cup Wheels
Bonded abrasive wheels in cup form, cutting on the rim face rather than the periphery. That flat contact is what makes them the right tool for surface grinding, tool sharpening and stone work. SES holds the range as an authorised Tyrolit distributor, covering forms Straight cup and flaring cup; bonds Resin, vitrified, diamond and CBN; grains Aluminium oxide, silicon carbide, diamond, CBN; mounting Threaded boss, or plain bore with flanges. Executions include straight cup wheels, flaring cup wheels, diamond cup wheels, single row, diamond cup wheels, double row, among others. It is specified most often into sharpening carbide tooling in a tool room and surface grinding on rotary table machines. Every part is genuine Tyrolit through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Cup Wheels in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means sharpening carbide tooling in a tool room, surface grinding on rotary table machines, dressing weld overlays flat on repair work, and equally grinding concrete and stone with diamond cups, levelling render and screed before finishing, cleaning up chamfers and bevels on heavy plate. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — cutting face: Rim, flat contact. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the Tyrolit range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Flat surface that has to come out genuinely flat — A cup wheel rather than a depressed-centre disc. A disc worked flat digs at its edge and leaves a series of shallow hollows. Carbide or hardened tooling — A diamond or CBN cup, never conventional abrasive. Aluminium oxide burns carbide and puts thermal cracks into the edge you are trying to save. Concrete, stone or refractory material — A diamond cup with the segment pattern matched to the material - closed rim for a fine finish, turbo pattern for speed. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
A cup wheel worn past the marked rim depth loses the support of its body and breaks away in use. Scrap them at the wear line, however much abrasive appears to be left on the rim. Send the designation off the failed part and we will confirm the Tyrolit equivalent and stock position.
