In practice that means cutting out heavy machine foundations during plant modernisation, sectioning bridge piers and abutments for demolition, removing thick RCC walls in bunker and silo structures, and equally cutting reinforced concrete chimney and stack sections, underwater cutting of intake and jetty structures, block cutting in granite and marble quarrying. Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Concrete is heavily reinforced through the whole section — A rubber-injected sintered bead wire. Steel content chews through a lightly specified wire, and the wire is the expensive part of the job. The cut runs underwater or in a flooded pit — A wire and drive rated for submerged work, with the power unit kept dry. Grit ingress and corrosion at the joins are what end wire life in water. Natural stone is being cut in a quarry — A wire with bead spacing chosen for stone rather than for concrete. Concrete spacing in granite cuts slowly and overheats the cable. Build a controlled twist into the loop, a set number of turns per metre, so the beads wear all the way round instead of on one face. A wire allowed to run flat wears to a D-section and then jams in its own kerf.
