Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. The wall is aerated block or soft brick — A coarse, open segment. A fine dense segment packs with soft dust, stops cutting and begins to rub instead. The wall turns out to be reinforced concrete part-way through — Stop and change to a wet bit. Dry bits get through light mesh, but sustained work in bar takes the segments off. No dust extraction is available on site — A bit with deep dust slots and a routine of withdrawing it regularly. Packed dust in the annulus burns segments long before the wall hardness does.
