Freehand Cutting
Cut-off wheels for hand-held angle grinders, where the operator controls feed, angle and everything else. Thickness is chosen from the section being cut; the rest of the specification follows from keeping that cut straight. SES holds the range as an authorised Tyrolit distributor, covering diameters 100, 115, 125, 180 and 230 mm; thicknesses 1.0, 1.6, 1.9, 2.5 and 3.0 mm; bore 22.23 mm; grain Aluminium oxide, zirconia alumina, ceramic. Executions include thin wheels for stainless steel, general steel cutting wheels, ceramic grain wheels for high-alloy work, depressed-centre wheels for flush cuts, among others. It is specified most often into cutting angle, channel and flat in structural fabrication and removing corroded bolts and clamps on conveyor gantries. Every part is genuine Tyrolit through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Freehand Cutting in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means cutting angle, channel and flat in structural fabrication, removing corroded bolts and clamps on conveyor gantries, site trimming of handrail and grating during plant erection, and equally cutting reinforcement bar on civil works, opening up pipe and tube during pipeline maintenance, tack removal and weld dressing in shop assembly. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — diameters: 100 mm to 230 mm. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the Tyrolit range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. The operator is cutting sheet under 3 mm — A 1.0 mm wheel. Thicker wheels drag the sheet, and the burr left behind takes longer to dress off than the cut took to make. The grinder has no speed control and the job is stainless — An iron, sulphur and chlorine free wheel with a lighter feed. Free iron picked up from an ordinary wheel shows as rust spots on the finished job. Rebar or hardened bolts are being cut repeatedly — A zirconia or ceramic grain wheel at 2.5 mm or heavier. A thin wheel manages one or two cuts and then simply wears back at the rim. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Let the wheel cut at its own rate. Leaning on a 1 mm wheel speeds up nothing: it bows the wheel, the cut runs off line, and the rim heats until the resin gives up. Send the designation off the failed part and we will confirm the Tyrolit equivalent and stock position.
