Hand-guided Grinding

Everything the operator holds: depressed-centre grinding discs, cutting discs, flap discs and mounted points on angle and die grinders. These tools are judged on removal rate, comfort and how long they keep cutting. SES holds the range as an authorised Tyrolit distributor, covering disc diameters 100 mm, 115 mm, 125 mm, 180 mm, 230 mm; grinding disc thickness Typically 4 mm to 8 mm; cutting disc thickness 1 mm upward; abrasives Aluminium oxide, zirconia alumina, ceramic grain. Executions include depressed-centre grinding discs, thin cutting discs, combination cut and grind discs, flap discs, among others. It is specified most often into weld preparation and weld dressing on structural fabrication and cutting rebar, angle and plate on site. Every part is genuine Tyrolit through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.

You will find Hand-guided Grinding in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means weld preparation and weld dressing on structural fabrication, cutting rebar, angle and plate on site, removing corrosion and scale ahead of painting, and equally blending shipyard plate seams and stiffeners, chamfering pipe ends before welding, dressing damaged valve and flange faces during shutdown. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — machines: Angle grinder, die grinder, straight grinder. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the Tyrolit range and confirm what is in stock.

Specify it against the duty.

Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Stainless steel or any job that must stay contamination free — Discs declared free of iron, sulphur and chlorine, plus a dedicated set kept physically apart from carbon-steel work. Operator grinding overhead for long spells — A ceramic-grain disc that cuts under low pressure. Aggressive grain cuts the force the operator must hold, and that is where vibration exposure comes down. Cutting and light grinding on the same job — A combination cut-and-grind disc rated for edge and face work. A standard thin cutting disc used on its face will shatter. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.

Resinoid discs carry an expiry date and it is there for a reason. Old stock at the back of the store dries out and loses bond strength, and that is precisely the disc that fails in the operator's hands — rotate the rack by date, not by whichever box is nearest.
