Mounted Points
Small bonded abrasive heads on a steel shank, run in die grinders, straight grinders and flexible shafts. They are how abrasive gets into a die cavity, a port or a weld root at all. SES holds the range as an authorised Tyrolit distributor, covering shanks 3 mm and 6 mm steel; shapes Cylindrical, ball, cone, taper, bullet, dish; grains Aluminium oxide and silicon carbide; bond Vitrified, in several grades. Executions include cylindrical points, ball-nose points, conical points, tapered points, among others. It is specified most often into blending die and mould cavities in a tool room and cleaning weld roots inside pipe bores. Every part is genuine Tyrolit through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Mounted Points in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means blending die and mould cavities in a tool room, cleaning weld roots inside pipe bores, removing core-print flash inside castings, and equally porting and matching cylinder heads in an engine shop, deburring cross-holes in valve bodies, dressing keyways and splines during overhaul. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — form: Bonded head on 3 or 6 mm shank. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the Tyrolit range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Grey iron and non-ferrous work — Silicon carbide points. Aluminium oxide loads on cast iron and glazes over almost immediately. Long reach into a deep bore — The shortest shank that still reaches, with the speed dropped to match. Every millimetre of extra overhang lowers the safe speed and raises the chance of the shank bending. Point losing its shape almost as soon as it is used — A harder grade, plus a dressing stick at the bench. Points can and should be dressed back to profile rather than thrown away. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Clamp the shank so at least three-quarters of its length sits inside the collet. Points thrown from a die grinder let go at the collet mouth almost every time, and they leave the machine at head height.
