Tool Grinding
Manufacture and resharpening of cutting tools — drills, end mills, taps, reamers, inserts. Flutes, reliefs and cutting edges are ground on CNC tool grinders, where the wheel is judged on how long it holds its corner. SES holds the range as an authorised Tyrolit distributor, covering wheel diameters Roughly 75 mm to 200 mm; abrasives Diamond, CBN, ceramic and conventional aluminium oxide; bonds Resin, hybrid, vitrified, metal, electroplated; forms Straight, dish, cup, flaring cup, profile wheels. Executions include resin-bond diamond tool grinding wheels, hybrid-bond diamond wheels, vitrified CBN wheels for HSS, flute grinding wheels, among others. It is specified most often into regrinding drills and end mills in the plant tool room and solid carbide cutter manufacture. Every part is genuine Tyrolit through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Tool Grinding in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means regrinding drills and end mills in the plant tool room, solid carbide cutter manufacture, indexable insert periphery and top grinding, and equally tap and reamer flute grinding, PCD and PCBN tool preparation, form tool and profile cutter sharpening. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — tools ground: Drills, end mills, taps, reamers, inserts. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the Tyrolit range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Solid carbide tools — Resin or hybrid-bond diamond. Bond choice decides how long the corner radius survives, and corner loss shows up as flute geometry error. High-speed steel tools — CBN or ceramic alumina. Diamond on HSS wears chemically and the wheel is finished long before it looks worn. Flute grinding on a long-series cutter — A wheel body that clears the flute over its full length, with coolant fed ahead of the wheel. Swarf trapped in a deep flute burns the land. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Regrinding only pays if the tool comes back before its corner is destroyed. Set a wear limit on the shop floor and pull cutters at it — a badly worn end mill takes so much stock to clean up that a new tool would have been cheaper.
