Wet Drill Bits
Water-fed core bits with sintered segments brazed to a steel barrel, for reinforced concrete and hard natural stone. Water carries swarf out of the annulus and holds the segment bond at a temperature where it wears at the rate it was designed to. SES holds the range as an authorised Tyrolit distributor, covering diameters 20 mm to 500 mm and above; working lengths 300 mm, 400 mm and 450 mm common; threads 1-1/4 inch UNC and R 1/2 inch gas; segment height Typically 10 mm new. Executions include standard wet bits for reinforced concrete, bits for hard aggregate and granite, bits for abrasive and green concrete, long working length bits, among others. It is specified most often into large pipe penetrations through RCC floors in process buildings and foundation bolt holes for mill and crusher installations. Every part is genuine Tyrolit through official channels, with designation, specification and options confirmed against your duty before it ships — supplied from Kolkata and our branch network, with breakdown cover that does not sit in an inbox.

Where it runs.
You will find Wet Drill Bits in the parts of a plant where this particular duty actually occurs. In practice that means large pipe penetrations through RCC floors in process buildings, foundation bolt holes for mill and crusher installations, core sampling of raft foundations before load increase, and equally openings through bridge decks and retaining walls, cooling water line routes through pump house walls, cut-outs in precast yard elements before erection. What links them is the duty rather than the machine name — cooling: Water through the spindle. If your installation is not on that list it matters less than you would think: the operating condition decides the specification. Send us the load, the speed, the running temperature and the environment it runs in, and we will match it to the right execution in the Tyrolit range and confirm what is in stock.
Specify it against the duty.
Specification here follows the operating condition, not the catalogue. Aggregate is hard river gravel or granite — A softer bond so fresh diamond keeps being exposed. A hard bond against hard aggregate glazes over, drilling time doubles and the operator starts forcing the rig. Concrete is green, soft or highly abrasive — A harder bond. Soft-bond segments in abrasive concrete are worn down inside a handful of holes. Heavy rebar runs through the full depth — A rebar-rated segment with full water flow held throughout. Losing water while in steel work-hardens the bar and blues the segment. Where two of those apply at once, specify for the harsher of the two — under-specifying is what puts the part back on the bench a month later. Send us the duty and we will confirm the execution.

Ordering this from SES.
Watch the water coming back out of the hole. Grey slurry means the segments are cutting; if the return runs clear, the bit is only rubbing and it will polish smooth long before the hole is through. Send the designation off the failed part and we will confirm the Tyrolit equivalent and stock position.
